Sampling and analysis techniques for inorganic air pollutants in indoor air

چکیده
Effective evidence-based actions to reduce indoor air pollution must be derived from data obtained using accurate means for assessment of the critical pollutants and identification their sources. This is paramount importance provide robust evidence establishing effective policies or preventive measures. Nevertheless, designing a reliable sampling plan assessing concentration inorganic pollutant in requires expertise conducting rigorous campaigns proper knowledge on existing standards methodologies target substances. Therefore, this review focuses relevant information recommendations that should considered when collect complementary environment under study, properly define criteria details work ensure quality assessments. In particular, comprehensive most commonly used determination list monitoring has been compiled. Thus, gaseous such as CO2, CO, O3, NO2, NO, NH3, SO2, H2O2, H2S, HNO3 HNCO are included present review.

Air Sampling for Fungi in Indoor Environments
Mould growth in buildings is a major health issue, but most investigations of the indoor air spora still employ culture-based methods. These are inadequate for assessing exposure, since culturable organisms comprise a small fraction of the total of potentially allergenic/toxigenic units in air. For epidemiological studies, measurement of airborne fungal biomass over extended periods may be more...

The World Health Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations with primary responsibility for international health matters and public health. Through this Organization, which was created in 1948, the health professions of over 190 countries exchange their knowledge and experience with the aim of making possible the attainment by all citizens of the world of a level of health that ...
متن کاملCardiovascular effects of indoor air pollutants
In the last decades, research on the causes of cardiovascular disease has made great progress. Multiple pharmaceutical and surgical approaches have been devised to prevent, treat, or otherwise manage heart disease, yet it remains the leading cause of death both in Europe and United States. There are important gaps in the understanding the leading causes of cardiovascular disease and the underli...
متن کاملAllergic reactions to indoor air pollutants.
Inhalation of airborne chemicals can result in allergic sensitization with episodic pulmonary responses occurring on subsequent exposures. Responses may occur in the upper respiratory tract (rhinitis), the lower respiratory tract (wheeze, bronchospasm) or systemically, for example, a febrile response. The mechanisms underlying these responses are not always clear but include production of reagi...
متن کاملCriteria air pollutants and toxic air pollutants.
This review presents a brief overview of the health effects and exposures of two criteria pollutants--ozone and particulate matter--and two toxic air pollutants--benzene and formaldehyde. These pollutants were selected from the six criteria pollutants and from the 189 toxic air pollutants on the basis of their prevalence in the United States, their physicochemical behavior, and the magnitude of...
